Watermelon Sorbet
Crickett got me the Kitchen Aid Ice Cream Maker Attachment for my birthday [she's such smart, sweet furkid!!]. My first run of the ice cream maker is going to be Watermelon Sorbet. Funny thing though, I'm looking at the recipes and they all have the same ingredients; but in differing amounts.
Cook's Illustrated:
2 1/2 pounds watermelon (flesh only), pureed until smooth
1 cup granulated sugar , minus 1 tablespoon
2 tablespoons lemon juice from 1 large lemon
1 tablespoon vodka or Campari
Emeril Lagasse
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon lime zest
8 cups watermelon chunks, seeds removed (about 1-inch pieces)
1/2 cup vodka, plus more for drizzling, if desired
Alton Brown
1 pound, 5 ounces diced watermelon, muskmelon or honeydew
3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons vodka
9 ounces sugar, approximately 1 1/4 cups
Parade (via Epicurious)
8 cups cubed (1 inch) watermelon, seeds and rind discarded
1 cup Simple Sugar Syrup
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Gourmet (via Epicurious) [The recipe actually comes from frozen watermelon-lime bars which sound DELISH!]
1 (2 1/2-pounds) piece of watermelon
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon Tequila
Decisions, decisions!!
